Where Wisconsin Badgers are ranked in coaches poll, AP poll after upsets

Wisconsin men’s basketball is a ranked team again.

The Badgers are No. 25 in the USA Today coaches poll and No. 24 in the AP Poll in the Feb. 16 update to the weekly polls.

Wisconsin’s placement in the two prominent college basketball polls follows upset wins at No. 7 Illinois and vs. No. 10 Michigan State. UW became the first school to record three top-10 wins this season, according to UW sports information. The 21-point win over Michigan State was its largest-ever win over a top-10 foe.

It is Wisconsin’s first time in either poll since Nov. 17, which preceded the Badgers’ unsightly 28-point loss to then-No. 10 BYU on Nov. 21. The Badgers were No. 21 in the coaches poll and No. 22 in the AP Poll before the loss.

Five Big Ten teams are ranked ahead of the Badgers in the coaches poll — No. 1 Michigan, No. 7 Purdue, No. 9 Nebraska, No. 10 Illinois and No. 15 Michigan State.

Wisconsin has an 18-7 overall record and a 10-4 Big Ten record. The Badgers are fifth in the conference standings with six games remaining in the regular season.

Greg Gard’s group will visit Ohio State on Feb. 17 before returning to the Kohl Center to face Iowa on Feb. 22. The Hawkeyes are no longer ranked after previously being No. 25 in the coaches poll.
