Las Vegas Raiders five-time Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro defensive end Maxx Crosby could be on the move in 2026, and the New England Patriots are one of many teams expected to be vying for his services.
There has been plenty of speculation that the Raiders will be looking to trade Crosby in the offseason, unless they can convince the 28-year-old defender to stick around for another rebuild under a new head coach and likely a rookie quarterback.
NFL insider Albert Breer said the door wasn't closed on Crosby sticking it out with the Raiders. However, there is obvious outside interest in his talent, and Breer even went as far as name-dropping the Patriots and Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks as two teams that would have an interest in Crosby.
"I think over a quarter of the league has already sort of sniffed around the possibility of, 'Could we make a trade for Maxx Crosby.' I do think there are teams out there, including the two that were in the Super Bowl, that would have an interest at looking at bringing in Maxx Crosby," Breer said on The Breer Report. "...Would Tom Brady even entertain the idea of trading him to the Patriots. I think Crosby would have at least some desire, potentially, to play for Mike Vrabel. He knows Josh McDaniels, the offensive coordinator there, who wouldn't be coaching him directly but was with him in Vegas."
During an appearance on Zolak & Bertrand, The Athletic's Dianna Russini claimed that Crosby told her that he wanted to play for Vrabel.
Whether that results in a move actually happening remains to be seen. The Raiders will do whatever they can to keep their best player on the roster. With that said, the Patriots should be doing whatever they can to create a trade opportunity.
They clearly need a No. 1 pass rusher, and the addition of an elite talent like Crosby to the defensive front would instantly give the Patriots one of the scariest defenses in football.
