Wisconsin basketball is in the national spotlight following its back-to-back wins over No. 8 Illinois and No. 10 Michigan State. The Badgers, who are 18-7 (10-4 Big Ten) after those big wins, jumped into the No. 24 position in the updated AP Poll on Monday.
Wisconsin was one of the biggest risers of the week, rising from outside the 'receiving votes' section into one of the poll's top 25 positions. The team's trajectory is also reflected in the latest USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll, where it sits at No. 25.
The Michigan Wolverines, who Wisconsin handed its only loss of the season, lead the latest national rankings. Houston, Duke, Arizona, UConn, Iowa State, Purdue, Kansas, Nebraska and Illinois round out the rest of the top 10. Michigan State is the only other Big Ten team in the top 25; it dropped to No. 15 after its loss to Wisconsin.
The Badgers close their regular season with games against Ohio State, Iowa, Oregon, Washington, Maryland and No. 7 Purdue. The team will then proceed to the Big Ten Tournament, where it has an outside shot at one of the coveted double-bye positions.
