Seth Anderson has resigned from his roles as teacher and football coach at Columbia Academy, the school announced in a release on Feb. 17.
"Through much prayer and consideration, I am requesting to resign my teaching and coaching responsibilities at Columbia Academy," Anderson said in the release. "I need to take a step back and put the health of myself and my family as my top priority.
I am grateful to have been able to coach at Columbia Academy over the last 20 years and to be able to teach for the last 15 years. I love the mission of Columbia Academy and will continue to support that mission."
Anderson's resignation comes weeks after Columbia Academy fired athletics director Pernell Knox. Knox was relieved of his AD duties on Feb. 4 ending a run that began in 2016.
Anderson had a 23-23 record in four seasons with the Bulldogs, reaching the TSSAA Division II-A football state championship in 2024, a first for the program. He also previously served as the school's softball coach and won state titles in 2019, 2021 and 2022.
"We love his family deeply and wish him the best," school president Dr. James A. Thomas said. "We will immediately begin an extensive search for the next coach to lead our football program."
