NFL insider shuts down Eagles-related trade buzz before it begins

They say nothing is promised besides death, taxes, and Philadelphia Eagles trade rumors. Or something like that. There may be an extra word or two added in there somewhere. Then again, that may not be the case. Depending on the week, some might argue that trade rumors are what pop up most often.

Just take the 2025 offseason, for instance. At different stages, we learned that Trey Hendrickson, J.J. Watt, Myles Garrett, and Micah Parsons were unhappy at work. All were connected to the Eagles as Philadelphia was mentioned as their possible landing spot.

None of them landed in Philadelphia. Not one.

Recently, something else popped up. Maxx Crosby had grown tired of the Las Vegas Raiders and vowed he'd never play there again. Anyone want to guess what happened next?

Hold those horses! Not so fast, like the great Lee Corso would say. Before you ask AI to wrap Crosby in an Eagles jersey, you might want to let this sink in for a second. You aren't going to like what Adam Schefter added to the discussion.

“I was told that the Raiders don’t want to trade [Maxx Crosby], and if they even contemplated it, then it would take a Micah Parsons-type package. That’s what I was told. Do I think they are getting two firsts and a player, no. Do I think they want to trade him, no. Do I think he’ll be traded like A.J. Brown [could be], that’ll change by the week… Any deal involving Maxx Crosby, I would think for the Raiders to make that deal, would take a first-round pick at minimum”.

That's a direct quote from ESPN's Senior NFL Insider, one lifted from his weekly chat with 97.5 The Fanatic's Kincade & Salciunas show. With that, we can dump ice water on any theories involving Crosby joining the midnight green. Hey. It was fun while it lasted.

Yes, we know. We know. He's expensive. The asking price would be too high. It's time to pay some of the young stars. Smoke rarely leads to fire when these conversations begin. There are so many reasons why this wouldn't work. Typically, when Howie Roseman and the Eagles' brass trade for someone, they do so by making a move that no one saw coming.

Still, we're talking about Maxx Crosby and Howie Roseman. If anyone can get a deal done for the former, it's the latter. Roseman's wizardry knows no end, but for now, we'll revisit those discussions come free agency or when the next great pass rusher expresses his desire for a change of scenery.
