Al Ahly goalkeeper Mohamed El Shenawy has received a four-match suspension and a fine after an altercation with a referee.
Al Ahly goalkeeper and captain Mohamed El Shenawy has been suspended for four matches and fined 50,000 Egyptian pounds after an altercation with the referee following a draw with Ceramica Cleopatra.
El Shenawy confronted referee Mahmoud Wafa after Al Ahly were denied a penalty appeal in stoppage time. The league said it punished the Egypt international for assaulting the referee by pushing or pulling without violence.
The ban will keep El Shenawy out until the final week of the league play-offs. Al Ahly are currently third in the standings on 41 points, five behind leaders Zamalek.
El Shenawy also received an additional fine of 2,500 Egyptian pounds after picking up two yellow cards in the same match.
