Eagles DB shares brutally honest truth about A.J. Brown trade talk

A.J. Brown is still officially a member of the Philadelphia Eagles, but in many ways, it feels like his time with the team is coming to an end.

Eagles First-Team All-Pro cornerback Cooper DeJean was asked about the holding pattern with Brown during a recent appearance on Takeoff. DeJean admitted the NFL is a business with each player doing what's best for them in their personal situation. milkshake.it.com

“We talk pretty often still. Obviously, he’s a great teammate, a great friend of mine. Nothing will change the way I think about A.J.," DeJean told NBC Sports Philadelphia's John Clark. "Obviously, it’s a business, and everybody has to do what’s best for them. I know whatever happens, he'll always be a close friend of mine. ...I’m going to miss just seeing him in the building, if he's gone. Just seeing him out on the practice field and talking trash, those are some fun times. And just learning from him, too. He instilled confidence in me. That is something I will always appreciate.”

The Eagles are expected to trade Brown on or after June 1, when they would avoid a dead cap hit north of $40 million. As of right now, the New England Patriots are viewed as the likeliest destination for the three-time All-Pro wide receiver.

Things could obviously change if another team gets in on the negotiations, but everything has pointed in the Patriots' direction throughout the offseason. Both teams even drafted like a deal was already done behind the scenes, even though it reportedly isn't.

The Eagles used a first-round draft pick on rookie receiver Makai Lemon, which probably isn't a move they would have made if they thought Brown would still be on their roster for the season. Meanwhile, the Patriots didn't draft a receiver at all—another fishy move from a team that cut its leading receiver, Stefon Diggs, in the offseason.

The Brown drama is entering spoiler territory at this point, and everyone can see the writing on the wall. It all feels like a waiting game before the inevitable happens.

Liverpool legend can replace Arne Slot immediately

Liverpool legend can replace Arne Slot immediately

A club legend can now replace Arne Slot at Liverpool.

Whether you like him or not the Dutchman’s time at Anfield will always be defined by his early success.

Winning the Premier League in his first season is no small feat. While he undoubtedly benefited from the foundations laid by Jurgen Klopp, Slot also made key adjustments that played a role in guiding Liverpool to the title.

However, that achievement does not excuse what has followed. This season, the responsibility lies squarely with him, and the evidence suggests he is out of his depth.

Since lifting the Premier League trophy, Liverpool have endured one of the poorest runs in the club’s history.

Results have declined sharply, and performances have lacked the consistency expected at this level. Slot has won fewer than half of his matches throughout 2025 and has continued on a similar trajectory into 2026. In their last 27 games, Liverpool have managed just 13 wins - a record well below the standards the club demands.

The drop-off is even more stark when looking at the club's league form. After winning their opening five matches of the season, Liverpool have secured only 12 victories in their next 30 Premier League games.

Even more concerning is their record in big fixtures, having lost both league encounters against Manchester City and Manchester United for the first time in 113 years.

Such statistics underline a worrying decline. The negative records continue to mount, and on current evidence, it's clear there is no going back from this for Slot.

Liverpool remain in a position to salvage their season largely due to the struggles of Manchester United and Chelsea.

In the long term, though, change is necessary, and that starts with appointing a manager who truly understands what it takes to operate at an elite level.

The club needs someone capable of working with top players, delivering both success and attractive football, while also implementing an aggressive, well-drilled pressing system.

Right now, Slot does not appear to offer that.

What Liverpool require is a return to identity: a manager in the mould of a gegenpressing specialist, someone who aligns with the expectations of the fanbase and can restore the high-intensity, “heavy metal” football that once defined Anfield.

However, before all of that Liverpool need to end the season on a high. That won't happen with Slot in charge. The Reds need a lift - something they can cling onto.
