Landon Dickerson says he never considered retiring this offseason
There were reports early in the offseason that Eagles left guard Landon Dickerson was considering retiring after five NFL seasons, but he remains a member of the team and he addressed those reports on Saturday.
Dickerson said that any notion that he was thinking about walking away didn't start with him. catcross.org
"I’m not sure where you guys got that from," Dickerson said, via Eliot Shorr-Parks of WIP.
Dickerson added that he's "not really" concerned about the cumulative toll his body takes as a result of playing. Dickerson did add, via multiple reporters, that he thinks he returned too quickly after having meniscus surgery last summer and that he has rethought his approach to trying to push through injuries as he has in the past.
Transfer news: Welbeck joins Chelsea, Brentford complete record Sangaré deal
35-year-old Brighton striker Welbeck seals £5m move
Mali international Sangaré joins Bees for reported £39m
Chelsea have signed Brighton’s veteran striker Danny Welbeck in a deal worth a reported £5m. Welbeck has agreed a two-year contract and will link up with Xabi Alonso’s squad on their pre-season tour.
The 35-year-old’s move to Stamford Bridge is a break from Chelsea’s policy of signing younger players with the potential to be developed. It is the first time they have paid a transfer fee for a player over the age of 26 since they signed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Barcelona in 2022 when the striker was 33.

It's obvious that coach Kyle Shanahan is the most important employee in the 49ers organization. The man who is arguably the second-most important member of the organization is leaving.
Via Adam Schefter of ESPN, executive V.P. of football operations Paraag Marathe is leaving the 49ers after 25 years with the team.
He'll focus on the soccer clubs the 49ers own — Leeds United of the Premier League and Rangers FC of the Scottish Premiership. Marathe currently serves as the chairman of Leeds United.
Two weeks ago, Marathe's name briefly emerged as a finalist to become Commissioner of the MLS. He quickly withdrew his name from consideration, creating the impression that he'd be staying put with the 49ers.
Marathe has been a quiet behind-the-scenes force for the 49ers, when it comes to negotiating contracts and managing the salary cap. There will be a void to fill moving forward, but the 49ers surely have a plan for doing so.
Bowles Unfazed by Mayfield Contract Comments
When asked about Mayfield's comments regarding his contract status, Bowles told reporters, "I didn't have a reaction. You know, he had a few things to say. He said it. We're all about ball today, and we moved on."
Bowles, known for his even-tempered demeanor, rarely reacts publicly to situations. From his perspective, Mayfield's contract status beyond 2026 is irrelevant as the NFL operates as a year-to-year business. With 10 head-coaching positions potentially opening after the 2025 season, Mayfield's performance in 2026 could impact Bowles's own job security for 2027.
