Pirates Reportedly Sign Former First-Round Pick To Minor League Deal
The Pittsburgh Pirates are giving a former top prospect yet another opportunity to make their big league roster.
Pittsburgh signed Carson Fulmer to a minor league deal, per Colin Beazley of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. The Pirates invited the pitcher to spring training, and he already has a locker in their LECOM Park clubhouse.
Alex Stumpf noted that this will mark Fulmer’s fourth separate stint with the Pirates organization. However, he has yet to appear in an MLB game for them.
Fulmer began his professional career with considerable buzz when the Chicago White Sox made him the No. 8 pick of the 2015 draft. The right-hander never found his footing, posting a 6.56 ERA in 44 games scattered over four seasons in Chicago.
Fulmer has since pitched for four different MLB clubs, spending the last three years with the Los Angeles Angels. He’s yet to harness the strike zone, issuing 137 walks and hitting 23 batters over 256 2/3 career innings.
The Pirates claimed Fulmer off waivers twice in 2020, but he only worked 10 1/3 innings for the Baltimore Orioles and Detroit Tigers during the pandemic-shortened season. Pittsburgh signed the former Vanderbilt standout after the 2024 season and released him last June after Fulmer registered a 4.64 ERA at Triple-A Indianapolis.
Fulmer finished the year with a 5.83 ERA for the Angels, so the 32-year-old would likely need an extremely impressive spring to make Pittsburgh’s Opening Day roster.

New York Giants have one of most 'stressed' fanbases in the NFL
The New York Giants have won just 13 games over the past three seasons, the second-lowest total in the NFL over that span behind only the Tennessee Titans (12).
They have lost 10 or more games in 10 of the last 12 seasons, a losing streak unprecedented in the franchise's 101 years of existence. That has placed a ton of stress on their already deflated fanbase.
So how stressed are Giant fans these days? The folks at Vegas Insider ranked them third in their list of the Most Stressed NFL Fan Bases of the 2025 season, behind only Dallas and Indianapolis.
Some highlights:
The Giants cleaned house this offseason and finally hired an experienced head coach with a track record of winning in John Harbaugh, expanded their coaching and training staffs, and have a new reporting dynamic that will put checks and balances on general manager Joe Schoen.
They will also undergo a shift in the roster, focusing on building on their young stars such as quarterback Jaxson Dart, linebacker Abdul Carter, running back Cam Skattebo, and wide receiver Malik Nabers.

Trump Jokes to Men’s Hockey Team That He’ll ‘Have To’ Invite Women’s Team to White House or He’ll Be ‘Impeached’

President Donald Trump joked to the U.S. men’s hockey team in a phone call moments after their Olympic victory that he was being forced to invite the women’s team that also won gold.
Earlier in the day, the men’s team took on Canada in the gold medal game, where the U.S. triumphed less than two minutes into overtime as Jack Hughes scored the game-winner.
Days earlier, the U.S. women’s team also beat Canada in an overtime thriller.
As Sunday’s celebrations continued into the locker room on Sunday, the men’s team was joined by FBI Director Kash Patel. At one point during all the partying, the director was able to get Trump on the phone to congratulate the team on the win. In a video posted online, the president cracked a joke about American goalie Connor Hellebuyck, who had a number of clutch saves at the end of the game to keep the score tied.
“And by the way, your goalie played not bad,” Trump said as the team laughed. “I have seen hockey goalies have slightly worse games than him.”
Trump then praised the team, saying they were “unbelievable” in Sunday’s win.
Moments later, the president began formulating plans for celebrations back home. First, he invited the team to his State of the Union address on Tuesday evening. The players enthusiastically accepted the invite.
Then, the president said the team could join him at the White House, where he’ll present them with more medals. It was at that point that Trump lamented that he’d also have to invite the women’s team to the White House.
“And we have to, I must tell you, we’re gonna have to bring the woman’s team,” Trump said.
The players initially laughed at the remark, while one player off-screen shouted, “Two for two,” in reference to both teams winning gold.
“I do believe I would probably be impeached,” Trump said.
Patel then assured the president that he’d work out the logistics of getting the team to the White House sometime this week.
