Verma showcases exceptional skills, Team India reach 59 runs in 10 overs

In the Women's T20 Asia Cup 2026 semi-final match against Bangladesh, Team India has reached the score of 59 runs for the loss of two wickets in 10 overs at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in the United Arab Emirates.

Having been put to bat first, Team India's star opening batswoman Smriti Mandhana was dismissed on two runs in five balls. Pratika Rawal also departed after scoring 20 runs in 24 balls, including a boundary and a maximum.

Opening batswoman Shafali Verma and captain Harmanpreet Kaur are unbeaten at the crease. Shafali has been showcasing sensible batting display in the crucial clash of the continental event.

Bangladesh's Sultana Khatun and Rabeya Khatun have bagged one wicket each. Marufa Akter, Nahida Akter, and Fahima Khatun will continue the hunt for the first scalp.

Earlier, Bangladesh's skipper Nigar Sultana won the toss and elected to bowl first against the "Women in Blue".

After winning the toss, Bangladesh's skipper Sultana said, "We want to bowl first, seeing the conditions. We want to give our bowlers the wicket to work on. [Are you looking to channel the memories of 2018?] I think it's just a new day. We're just looking forward to play good cricket here because it's been a long time. We definitely have some good memories from (2018), but it's an important day for all of us because it's our last game in this tournament. It could not be the last game because if we could do well here, maybe we might get another chance (in the final). [Any changes?] No, we are playing the same eleven. [What total are you looking to restrict India to?] We want to restrict them to a total that we (can) chase".
