Steinbach Leads Washington Past Rutgers

Hannes Steinbach recorded 24 points and 16 rebounds to lead Washington to a 79-72 victory over Rutgers on Tuesday night.

Steinbach, a 6-foot-11 German forward, secured his 17th double-double of the season, tying for second place in Division I. Wesley Yates III contributed 19 points and seven assists for Washington (14-14, 6-11 Big Ten), which shot 50% as a team and 37% from beyond the arc.

The Huskies took the lead for good early and built an 18-point advantage before Rutgers cut it to single digits late. This marked Washington's first-ever win at Rutgers, as the Scarlet Knights had previously won 89-85 in overtime on Feb. 19, 2025.
