Mike Wagner, who played a pivotal role in the Steelers’ Steel Curtain era, passed away at 76. The 11th‑round pick from Western Illinois recorded 36 interceptions over 10 seasons and was a starter on all four Super Bowl‑winning teams.
Wagner’s game‑sealing interceptions in Super Bowls IX and X cemented his legacy. Steelers owner Art Rooney II said he was a “tremendous player” and “integral part of some of the most successful teams in Pittsburgh history.”
