Levi McCathern, Nacua's attorney, told The California Post on April 1 that the 24-year-old receiver's stay at the treatment center began before the March lawsuit accusing him of biting a woman and making an antisemitic comment. While the legal matter was a contributing factor, McCathern emphasized Nacua's decision was not directly tied to the civil proceedings.
Nacua has denied the allegations "in the strongest terms," and his legal team plans to file a defamation lawsuit against the accuser. Despite the controversy, McCathern confirmed Nacua will complete the program in time for Rams OTAs. Coach Sean McVay has expressed trust in the receiver, stating he "trusts this kid's heart" and wants to help him grow. The city attorney's office is reviewing the matter to determine if criminal charges will be filed.
