The UFL has announced plans to launch a new team in Oklahoma City for the 2028 season, with the to-be-named franchise set to play in a downtown, 10,000-seat stadium currently under construction.

The announcement, made via email on Thursday morning, marks the UFL's latest expansion move. The league plans to grow to 10 teams by 2028, though it didn't specify whether the Oklahoma City franchise will be brand-new or relocated.

The UFL, which has struggled to gain significant traction in American football, has persisted in various forms over the past eight years. The league has recently moved teams to smaller stadiums to reduce the appearance of empty seats, with St. Louis showing relatively strong support for the Battlehawks.
