Backhaus: 'Fighting Hairstyle' Boosts Bremen Fight

Werder Bremen keeper Mio Backhaus has debuted a new 'fighting hairstyle' as part of the club's relegation battle, while crediting Arsenal loanee Karl Hein for pushing him to improve.

Werder Bremen goalkeeper Mio Backhaus has sported a new look, shaving off his artificial blonde hair to reveal his natural dark locks ahead of crucial Bundesliga matches. The 21-year-old, who is now Germany U21's No. 1, believes the 'fighting hairstyle' will help his team collect more points in their fight against relegation.

Backhaus also spoke about how competition from Arsenal loanee Karl Hein helped him raise his game after the Estonian keeper filled in for him earlier in the season. Despite Werder Bremen's struggles, Backhaus remains confident in his team's ability to work their way up the table, saying: 'I'm fairly certain that at the end of it all we'll stand there and say, Wow, that was a difficult but ultimately successful season.'
