Blue Jays slugger Anthony Santander disclosed that his shoulder pain resurfaced in January when he resumed hitting, according to Sportsnet's Shi Davidi. The 31-year-old initially took time off to rest but the pain persisted, eventually requiring an MRI that revealed the torn labrum.
This is the second time in as many years that Santander has been sidelined by the same left shoulder injury. He missed most of last season with this issue, appearing in just 54 regular-season games. Santander is now facing another significant absence, entering the second year of his five-year, $92.5 million contract with the Blue Jays.
