Brewers' Pat Murphy Tries 'Rally Tortoise' After Pancake Ban

Milwaukee Brewers manager Pat Murphy swapped pocket pancakes for a Sulcata tortoise during a pregame interview after a no‑pancake warning.

During a pregame interview for an Apple TV broadcast, Brewers manager Pat Murphy was told “no pocket pancakes” and instead presented a Sulcata tortoise he named Bobby Jr., a nod to Royals star Bobby Witt Jr. The moment went viral after fans noted the reptile was not a turtle.

The tortoise, kept under a heat lamp in the visiting clubhouse at Kauffman Stadium, will remain in Kansas City due to airline restrictions. It is not traveling with the team for the season.
