During the sixth inning of a Brewers game at American Family Field on March 31, first‑base umpire C.B. Bucknor ruled that Jake Bauers had missed first base, calling him out. A replay review showed Bauers had stepped dead center on the bag, and the call was overturned.
Bucknor, 63, has been a major‑league umpire since 1996 and was recently highlighted by the new automated ball‑strike challenge system, which overturned six of his calls in a March 28 game between the Red Sox and Reds.
