The Montreal Canadiens clinched a playoff spot after a 5-3 shootout win over the Devils on Saturday, but the next night they fell 3-0 to the same opponent. Jacob Markstrom earned his first season shutout, while Cody Glass and Timo Meier scored for New Jersey. Connor Brown added an empty‑net goal for Montreal.
