Charlie Lindgren allowed eight goals on 32 shots as the Washington Capitals were dismantled 8-1 by the New York Rangers on Sunday, dealing a massive blow to their playoff chances.

Igor Shesterkin made 20 saves as Conor Sheary, Mika Zibanejad, Adam Fox, and Will Cuylle each scored for the Rangers in the blowout win.

Washington now sits three points behind the Columbus Blue Jackets for the final playoff spot with just four games remaining.
