Michigan beats UConn for first title since 1989

Michigan outlasted UConn 69-63 on Monday to win their first NCAA men’s basketball championship since 1989, relying on grit over three-point shooting.

Elliot Cadeau scored 19 points to lead the Wolverines to the 69-63 victory. Despite making only two three-pointers all night, Michigan relied on physical play to defeat UConn.

Cadeau was named the Final Four Most Outstanding Player, while the Huskies struggled with foul trouble in the low-scoring affair.
