Pellegrino Powers San Diego Past Montreal 5-0

Amahl Pellegrino scored a goal and assisted on two others as San Diego FC defeated Montreal 5-0 in their season opener.

San Diego dominated from start to finish, with Christopher McVey opening the scoring in the 14th minute. Pellegrino added a goal in stoppage time before halftime, and Montreal's Tomas Aviles was sent off with a straight red card in the 50th minute.

Four different players scored for San Diego, including MLS debutants Duran Ferree, Onni Valakari, Marcus Ingvartsen and Zamblé. The 18-year-old Ferree made two saves in his debut.
