Mitch Bratt started for Arizona but gave up five runs in the second inning, aided by two misplays by third baseman LuJames Groover. Zane Russell replaced Bratt but faced four batters without retiring anyone, forcing Arizona to use ten pitchers total. Casey Anderson was a bright spot, striking out both hitters he faced. Arizona pitchers struck out 13 but walked 8 in the first six innings.
Offensively, Jordan Lawlar hit a home run and walked, while Tim Tawa had a hit and a walk. Tommy Troy went 2-for-2 with an RBI double in the ninth. Rockies' catcher Hunter Goodman was perfect in his three challenges during the game.
