Scott Oake Announces Retirement from Broadcasting After 2025-26 Season

Longtime Sportsnet personality Scott Oake announced on Saturday that he will step away from broadcasting following the 2025-26 NHL season.

Oake, a mainstay on Hockey Night in Canada since 1989, confirmed his decision during Saturday's After Hours show. He will host his final games during the upcoming Stanley Cup Playoffs before retiring. Oake began his career at Memorial University of Newfoundland before relocating to Winnipeg in 1979 to pursue sports broadcasting.
