Strickland eyes middleweight title after Houston TKO

Sean Strickland, former middleweight champion, wants another 185‑lb title after his TKO win over Anthony Hernandez in Houston. He also criticized Khamzat Chimaev’s potential move to 205‑lb.

After a decisive TKO over Anthony Hernandez in Houston, former middleweight champion Sean Strickland is positioning himself for another 185‑lb title shot. The 31‑year‑old, who has never defended the belt, said he wants to challenge Khamzat Chimaev, who won the middleweight crown at UFC 319.

Chimaev, who has only defended the belt once, is reportedly considering a jump to the 205‑lb division. Strickland, echoing UFC CEO Dana White, slammed the idea, calling it a “clown show” and arguing that Chimaev does not deserve a title fight at light heavyweight.
