Surtain Praises 'Quiet' Gonzalez As Elite Corner

Denver Broncos All-Pro Patrick Surtain II praised Patriots' Christian Gonzalez as a 'quiet' but elite corner during a podcast appearance.

Denver Broncos All-Pro Patrick Surtain II had high praise for New England Patriots corner Christian Gonzalez during an appearance on "Games With Names" with Julian Edelman. Surtain described Gonzalez as "quiet as a mouse, y'know? Chill, laid-back. But, he's a baller," noting that both he and Gonzalez are among the league's top corners who let their play do the talking rather than trash-talking.

Surtain, who won the Defensive Player of the Year Award in 2024 and is regarded by many as the best corner in football, expressed great respect for Gonzalez. While Gonzalez has just one Pro Bowl nod compared to Surtain's multiple accolades, the Patriots are reportedly trying to get an extension done with their shutdown corner, who could end up making even more than Surtain's four-year, $96 million deal.
