Turner Starts for USMNT in 5-2 Loss to Belgium

Matt Turner returned to the USMNT starting lineup for the first time since June 10, 2025, in a 5-2 friendly loss to Belgium, as coach Mauricio Pochettino sought to evaluate him.

Turner, who had not started since the 2022 World Cup, was handed the starting role after a brief announcement the day before the match. He made a number of routine saves, but Belgium’s early pressure and a 1-1 equaliser from Zeno Debast highlighted his challenges.

Despite the defeat, Pochettino praised Turner’s effort and said the experience would help him compete for the national team’s goalkeeping spot.
