Canucks’ Boeser, Rossi, Buium return to lineup vs. Jets

The Vancouver Canucks are set to return to a semblance of health for their first game back from the Olympic break.

Forwards Brock Boeser and Marco Rossi and defenceman Zeev Buium are back in the lineup for the Canucks as they take on the Winnipeg Jets in their first game back on Wednesday, the team announced before puck drop (Sportsnet Pacific, 7 p.m. PT / 10 p.m. ET).

The three players missed time just before the Olympic break but returned to practice last week when skating resumed on Tuesday.

Boeser missed the final five games before the break after a high hit from Pittsburgh Penguins defenceman Bryan Rust resulted in a concussion. Rust was suspended three games for the hit.

In 50 games this season, the 28-year-old has 12 goals and 13 assists.

Rossi, one of the key pieces for the Canucks in the Quinn Hughes trade, has been out since Jan. 1 with a lower-body injury.

On the season, the 24-year-old Austrian has 13 points in 17 games prior to his trade and two points in eight games with the Canucks.

Buium, another pillar in the Hughes trade return, suffered a facial fracture on Jan. 25 against the Penguins after taking a puck to the face. He returned to the game with a bubble after receiving stitches, but was placed on injured reserve shortly thereafter.

The 20-year-old has five goals and 15 assists in 51 games this season, and has tallied two goals and four assists in 20 games in Vancouver.

Kevin Lankinen, who suited up for Finland at the Milano Cortina Olympics, is back with the team but will serve as the backup behind Nikita Tolopilo against the Jets.

The Canucks are currently 18-33-6 and have the worst overall record in the NHL.
