Zuri Petlick, Nico Bellabona voted Seacoast Athletes of the Week

The Seacoast high school Athletes of the Week for Feb. 16-21 are Portsmouth Christian Academy girls basketball player Zuri Petlick and Oyster River High School boys hockey player Nico Bellabona.

Petlick joins previous girls winners this winter: Marshwood High School basketball player Natalie Lathrop, Oyster River/Portsmouth hockey player Meagan Rinko, Exeter High School basketball player Lexy Rogers, Winnacunnet High School basketball player Julie Allan, Newmarket High School basketball player Amaya Beckles, Marshwood High School basketball player Isabelle Tice, Exeter High School cross country athlete Lexi Paterna, Dover High School basketball player Avery Littlefield and Winnacunnet High School swimmer Makenna Babineau.

Bellabona joins previous boys winners this winter: Newmarket High School basketball player Nick Minutelli, Dover High School hockey player Ayden Lemay, Exeter High School basketball player Jackson McDonald, Winnacunnet High School basketball player Logan Muirhead, Somersworth basketball player Jackson Gregoire, Oyster River High School hockey player Nolan Walsh, Oyster River High School basketball players Will Jernigan, Dover High School basketball player Michael Gorman and Marshwood/Traip wrestler Rogan Boisvert.

The weekly polls run each Monday through midnight Thursday, and can be found at seacoastonline.com/sports and fosters.com/sports. The honors are presented by York County Community College.

Petlick won the online poll by receiving more than 46% of the votes, totaling 486 votes. Exeter basketball player Nicole Melick finished second with over 30%.

Oyster River/Portsmouth hockey player Sage Bussiere (13%), Oytster River basketball player Eva Bebbington (6%) and Spaulding basketball player Ava Damon (4%) rounded out the top five nominees, respectively.

Petlick scored 15 points in a 54-48 Division IV loss to Farmington on Monday, Feb. 16.

"Zuri steps up big as a freshman on both ends of the court," Portsmouth Christian head coach Katie Robertson said. "We can always rely on her to be willing to take big shots. Her vocality this season has increased and we're looking forward to her leadership in upcoming seasons."

Bellabona won the online poll by receiving nearly 44% of the votes, totaling 619 votes. Exeter basketball player Nate Tomasi placed second with 39% of the vote.

St. Thomas Aquinas hockey player Gavin Brayne (8%), Portsmouth Christian Academy basketball player Jackson Malone (6%) and York hockey player Bronson Eldredge (4%) rounded out the top five, respectively,

Bellabona scored two goals in a 5-1 win over Somersworth/Coe-Brown on Saturday, Feb. 21.

"Nico has been a standout player and leader for us all year," Oyster River head coach Peter Harwood said. "He plays his best when the pressure is on, and he keeps his teammates focused on achieving our goals."
