PLAYER RATINGS | Paris FC 1-0 OGC Nice: Winning start to life under Antoine Kombouaré

PLAYER RATINGS | Paris FC 1-0 OGC Nice: Winning start to life under Antoine Kombouaré

Ligue 1 McDonald’s, Round 24, 01/03/2026

Antoine Kombouaré was back in the dugout in the capital, albeit with a new side, as he took charge of his first game for Paris FC in a 1-0 victory over visiting OGC Nice.

The Match

Nice started brightly when Jonathan Clauss found Tom Louchet at the far post. The midfielder had scored a brace last weekend in the 3-3 draw with Lorient FC, but couldn’t put his shot on target and punish Les Parisiens early.

Nice thought they had an opening in the 17th minute when Kevin Carlos went to ground in the box following a challenge from Ilan Kebbal. The striker has yet to break his duck for Nice and thought he had a chance, until the referee took another look at the incident and instead gave him a yellow for simulation.

Paris would sucker punch their guests when Moses Simon took a speculative shot from distance. Maxime Dupé blocked the effort, but couldn’t keep hold of the ball, allowing Marshall Munetsi to sweep in and power home a shot off the crossbar and home.

Kojo Peprah Oppong had the best chance to equalise for Nice when he and Juma Bah stayed up after a free kick. Bard picked out Bah in the box, and the centre-back headed the ball across goal to his defensive partner. Oppong fired goalwards, drawing an excellent save off Kevin Trapp.

Paris came out the better of the two sides in the second half, with Pierre Lees-Mellou looking to double the deficit with a well-struck shot into the bottom left corner. However, Dupé was able to get down quickly to parry the effort out for a corner.

Dupé would continue to be the busier of the two keepers in the second half, with Jean-Philippe Krasso on for the goalscorer, Munetsi, forcing an acrobatic save from the Nice shotstopper.

In a slight irony, Kevin Carlos’s halftime replacement, Kaïl Boudache, was bungled over by Simon in the box. And the referee once again flashed a yellow for simulation – a harsh-looking decision, as it looked as if Boudache had been brought down.

Nice had lost control in the second half, and what had started as a promising performance crumbled with Paris ending the match, wondering how they didn’t manage to find a second as they recorded their first victory since the 18th of January.

OGC Nice Player Ratings

Maxime Dupé, 6

The goalkeeper was at fault for the goal, but despite that, he had a good game and largely kept the deficit narrow in the second half.

Melvin Bard, 5

Juma Bah, 5

Kojo Peprah Oppong, 5

Jonathan Clauss, 6

The most dangerous outfield player for Nice had several chances to feed his teammates and fire at Trapp’s goal.

Charles Vanhoutte, 5

Morgan Sanson, 5

Tom Louchet, 5

Sofiane Diop, 4

Mohamed Ali Cho, 4

Kevin Carlos, 2

The striker has one goal this season, and that came before his move to France in August. Kevin Carlos had the ball in his hands and waited at the penalty spot before the referee overturned his on-field decision and gave him a yellow card for simulation. It’s his career at Nice in microcosm. Replaced at half-time by Kaïl Boudache (4)

Paris FC Player Ratings

Kevin Trapp, 7

Paris didn’t always play brilliantly in this match and did allow Nice chances, but what danger they faced, Trapp was able to handle and come away smiling.

Adama Camara, 5

Diego Coppola, 6

Moustapha Mbow, 6

A good performance from the centre-back. He made what looked like a vital intervention to prevent Boudache from getting a shot off late in the match.

Thibault De Smet, 4

An injury-time red card after he picked up a second yellow following a confrontation with Cho. It wouldn’t truly matter as Nice could only deliver one corner before the match ended.

Pierre Lees-Mellou, 6

Paris’s dominance in the second half and control of the ball seemed to be generated from Lees-Mellou growing into the game. The midfielder had a good game and had several chances to double the lead, but was denied by Dupé.

Marshall Munetsi, 6

Jonathan Ikoné, 5

Ilan Kebbal, 5

Moses Simon, 5

Ciro Immobile, 4
