The Vegas Golden Knights could be dealing with another injury scare involving their captain.
During Sunday’s matchup against the Pittsburgh Penguins, Mark Stone was hurt late in the first period in what looked like an awkward, unexpected sequence. As Stone approached Penguins defenceman Kris Letang, Letang delivered a light cross-check to Stone’s left shoulder area.
The 33-year-old immediately showed signs of discomfort and gingerly skated back to the bench and went down the tunnel.
Stone did not return for the second period and was ruled out for the game, according to Hannah Kirkell of Vegas Hockey Now.
The forward appeared in every game for Team Canada during the Olympics. Unfortunately, he has been no stranger to injury during his tenure as a member of the Golden Knights, with Stone never playing a full 82-game season during his eight seasons with the team.
This season, Stone has appeared in just 42 games of the Golden Knights’ 59 games but has tallied 21 goals and 39 assists.
