Richard Hughes has made a bold Mo Salah decision at Liverpool

Richard Hughes has made a bold Mo Salah decision at Liverpool

Mohamed Salah's future has hung heavy over the heads of everyone involved with Liverpool.

Most fans thought that his two-year extension would've been exactly what they wanted but, in his last 10 Premier League games, he's failed to score a single goal.

This lack of form is massively concerning and, although there's still time for him to turn things around, it's clear that he's going to end up nowhere near the contributions he made last term.

Salah's poor form has caused many rumours to emerge and now, Richard Hughes seems to have made his decision about the Egyptian King's future.

For the last couple of years, Salah has been linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League.

Indeed, the league already has the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Darwin Nunez, Karim Benzema and Georginio Wijnaldum playing for them but, a player of Salah's quality would massively improve the status of the league.

Liverpool's fans were massively against sanctioning the exit of Salah in the summer but now, it feels like most are leaning towards allowing him to leave.

That is, especially if the latest update from BBC Sport is to be believed.

The report shares that a summer departure for Salah is now 'increasingly likely.'

However, a move would depend on whether the attackers wage demands can be met or not.

Saudi Arabia and the MLS are two 'possible options' for the Egyptian with the Anfield outfit not wanting Salah to leave for nothing in 2027.

This clearly means that Hughes has made the decision to sell Salah in the upcoming transfer window.

Richard Hughes would be making a massive mistake if he were to sell Mohamed Salah in the summer

Even though Salah's form hasn't really been up to scratch this season, it still feels like the former Chelsea ace has a lot to give the club.

Things have changed at Anfield over the last year or so and, one all of their new signing have gotten used to how things work under Arne Slot, each player could come together and ensure that the Anfield outfit are competitive.

They still have a chance of winning the Champions League this season and, if they manage to win that and their players end up getting used to how one another plays, the 2026-27 season could be incredible.

However, if Salah is moved on, it'll mean that Liverpool will need to source a replacement for one of the best players in the world.

Indeed, some such as Yan Diomande and Michael Olise have been linked with an Anfield switch already but, each of them will cost a small fortune which, at this moment in time would be hard for Liverpool to conjure up.

That is, especially since Salah isn't likely to command a massive fee next season due to the time left on his contract and his lack of form.

There's obviously no knowing what Hughes and Liverpool are going to do in the summer but, unless they have a clear succession plan lined up for Salah, he'd be making a massive mistake by selling him.
