Trea Turner has two hits in eleven spring at bats.
Adolis Garcia, who the team is counting on to have a bounceback season, has three hits in fourteen at bats.
Otto Kemp, the guy they’re counting on to be part of an outfield platoon? Two for thirteen.
It’s still rather early in spring training. We’re talking about sample sizes here that are four or five games long, so the players are still getting back in the flow of things. Yet with all the players that have departed the camp, there will be a lot of opportunity to get at bats for some of the players that are looking either to get their timing back or to make an impression on the coaching staff.
Still, when do you start worrying about spring performances, if you even start worrying about them at all? Again, there are lots of games left, lots of chances for players to get better and to get their timing back. But at some point – not too soon, but still soon – the players need to start performing.
