Munie's brace powers Earthquakes past Sporting KC 3-0

Daniel Munie scored twice and Preston Judd added another as the San Jose Earthquakes defeated Sporting Kansas City 3-0 in their MLS season opener.

Munie and Judd each scored four minutes apart just before halftime, with Munie converting a left-footed tap at the 42nd minute and Judd finding the net in stoppage time. Munie added his second goal at the 54th minute, completing his brace.

San Jose dominated statistically with 18 shots to Sporting KC's seven and 15 corner kicks to three. Sporting KC enters the 2026 season following a major overhaul with new general manager David Lee and head coach Rafaël Wicky after finishing last in the Western Conference last season.
