Bettman visits Calgary for World Cup venue

NHL commissioner Gary Bettman will visit Calgary's Scotia Place on Monday to evaluate it as a potential venue for the 2028 World Cup of Hockey.

Deputy commissioner Bill Daly will join Bettman for a tour of the arena's construction site and meetings with ownership. The $1.2 billion venue, slated to open in fall 2027, is a leading candidate to host round-robin games for the four-north American group in the 2028 tournament.

Calgary is among the final North American cities being considered for the event, with venue announcements expected in two weeks. The city's bid promises a festival atmosphere and could have significant economic impact.
