Chicago Fire Breaks Ground on $750M Stadium in Chicago

Chicago Fire FC officially broke ground Tuesday on a new, privately funded $750 million stadium in the South Loop.

The venue, located within The 78 development along the Chicago River, will open before the 2028 MLS season and seat just over 22,000 fans. Designed with a natural grass surface and 360-degree sightlines, the open-air stadium aims to create a premier soccer atmosphere.

This marks the first major professional sports stadium built in Chicago in over three decades. Owner Joe Mansueto, who has invested over $1 billion into the club, described the project as a historic milestone for the team and the city.
