New Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Brian Daboll was drawn to the position primarily because of quarterback Cam Ward, whom he extensively studied while with the Giants. Daboll emphasized Ward's athletic ability and out-of-structure play as his main attractions, contrasting with former coaches who wanted the young QB to improve within the system.
Despite Ward's challenging rookie season with low passer rating and high sack rate, Daboll is comfortable with the QB's mechanics and has watched all of his tape dating back to college. The coordinator, who successfully developed Josh Allen in Buffalo, is eager to begin working with Ward once the offseason program begins.
