Ehlers Hat Trick Lifts Hurricanes Past Canucks

Nikolaj Ehlers sealed his hat trick with an empty-net goal and the Carolina Hurricanes defeated the Vancouver Canucks 6-4 on Wednesday, extending Vancouver's losing skid to seven games.

Sean Walker, Andrei Svechnikov and Sebastian Aho each added a goal and an assist for the Hurricanes (39-16-6), while Seth Jarvis contributed a pair of helpers. Brandon Bussi stopped 18 of 22 shots for Carolina.

The Canucks (18-36-7) received goals from Filip Hronek, Marco Rossi, Brock Boeser and Nils Hoglander, with Hronek and Pettersson each recording two assists. Vancouver has just two wins in its last 23 games.
