Fitzgerald Proposes College Football Calendar Changes

Michigan State football head coach Pat Fitzgerald outlined his vision for reforming the college football calendar during a recent podcast appearance.

Appearing on David Pollack's ESPN podcast, Fitzgerald proposed several significant changes to the college football calendar. He suggested moving up the start of the season, implementing home playoff games similar to the NFL, FCS, and D2 levels, and moving the national championship game to January 1st while eliminating conference championship games.

Additionally, Fitzgerald recommended that bowl games be played one week after the regular season concludes. These proposals come as part of ongoing discussions within college football about potential calendar reforms that could better align with television schedules and player rest periods.
