Lou Holtz: Football Coach with Golf Passion

Football coaching legend Lou Holtz, who died Wednesday at age 89, maintained a lifelong passion for golf as a single-digit handicapper and Augusta National member.

Holtz, best known for his football coaching career at schools like Notre Dame and South Carolina, was also an accomplished golfer with a single-digit handicap. He hosted SiriusXM's 'Holtz in One' and considered winning the Augusta National member-member tournament in 2005 his greatest accomplishment.

The former coach had colorful golf stories, including being featured on a 1986 Sports Illustrated cover that was replaced when Jack Nicklaus won his sixth Masters. Holtz developed friendships with golfers like Lee Trevino and often shared humorous anecdotes about his golf experiences.
