The Australian champion racehorse Makybe Diva, who captured the Melbourne Cup in 2003, 2004 and 2005, died at the age of 26 after a brief bout of colic at her retirement stable near Geelong, outside Melbourne.
Owner Tony Santic said the mare had earned $10 million in prize money and was a family member, while jockey Glen Boss reflected on her legacy, calling her a true Australian legend.
