Ministry bars DCCI from using 'India' in name

The Union sports ministry has directed the Differently Abled Cricket Council of India (DCCI) to cease using 'India' or 'Indian' in its name, as the body is not recognized as a National Sports Federation (NSF).

The ministry stated that only government-recognized federations are permitted to use these terms, with similar notices sent to other organizations including the Women's Cricket Federation and Indian Body Builders' Federation. DCCI secretary Ravi Kant Chauhan confirmed receiving the letter and requested NSF status, noting the council has organized World Cups, Asia Cups, and national tournaments despite lacking official recognition from the BCCI.
