Saints' Sanker Shines in Strong Rookie Season

Safety Jonas Sanker had a standout rookie season for the Saints, starting 16 games after an early injury to Julian Blackmon and becoming a key contributor to the team's strong secondary.

Selected in the third round from Virginia, Sanker played 89% of the team's defensive snaps (978 total) and finished second among Saints defensive backs with 80 tackles, including 3 for loss and 46 solo stops. He also contributed 2 interceptions and showed excellent range and instincts as a deep safety, areas some scouts questioned before the draft.

Despite some inconsistencies down the stretch, Sanker's impact was immediate, recording 8 tackles in his second game and picking off his first pass in Week 4. His performance helped propel the Saints' secondary to become the team's most consistent unit, ranking 4th against the pass and 9th overall defensively.
