Alexander Sørloth scored twice in quick succession, first with a confident sidefoot from close range past Simon Mignolet, then converting from six yards after a one-two with Ademola Lookman. Antoine Griezmann was also involved in the buildup as Atletico established what appears to be an unassailable lead.
The victory would see Atletico advance to the last 16, where they will face either Liverpool or Tottenham Hotspur in Friday's draw.
