Football's lawmaking authority, Ifab, announced Saturday it will conduct a two-year review of the video assistant referee system to ensure it's being used optimally. The announcement came alongside several rulebook enhancements to be implemented before the World Cup, including expanding VAR's use to determine corner kicks.
Another proposed rule targets players obscuring their mouths during matches, which could be fast-tracked for this summer's tournament following the alleged racist abuse of Vinícius Júnior by Benfica's Gianluca Prestianni. The 'Vinicius Law' would allow for quicker punishments in such cases.
