Osasuna launch investigation after chaos erupts following Real Madrid clash

In the aftermath of their recent La Liga fixture against Real Madrid, Osasuna have taken formal steps to address troubling incidents that unfolded at El Sadar.

Following the match, which ended in celebration for the home supporters, the atmosphere outside the pitch reportedly changed dramatically.

According to reports from Mundo Deportivo, police intervention led to two arrests and four individuals requiring medical attention.

The club also received around 20 official complaints from La Liga related to violent episodes linked to the evening.

Concerned by what occurred, Osasuna’s Board of Directors convened an extraordinary meeting on Wednesday.

Osasuna released a statement

In the official statement released afterwards, the board acknowledged the seriousness of the situation and the distress experienced by supporters leaving the stadium.

“Firstly, the Board of Directors wishes to express its deep concern about the violent images that occurred after the match in the south end and the scenes of panic that many fans had to endure as they peacefully left the stadium celebrating their team’s victory.”

In response, the club confirmed the formation of an independent commission to thoroughly review the events.

The commission has been tasked with collecting testimonies, speaking directly with those involved, and analysing all available evidence.

Osasuna also stressed their commitment to transparency throughout the process.

“The club will facilitate their work and cooperate so that members and fans can learn with the utmost transparency how the events unfolded and what actions were taken by all parties involved.

“Likewise, the commission will have the authority to propose any measures it deems appropriate to prevent situations such as those experienced on Saturday from recurring.”

With tensions still fresh, Osasuna’s next steps would be closely monitored.
