It is no secret that the Cleveland Browns is stripping down its offensive line group, and basically starting over. OT Dawand Jones is the only Week 1 starter left.

RG Wyatt Teller said his goodbyes to the Cleveland fanbase. LG Joel Bitonio could retire. RT Jack Conklin is always hurt and has missed 33 games since coming to Cleveland in 2020, and C Ethan Pocic is a free agent.

Most likely, Luke Wypler will inherit the center position. But hold the phone. On Thursday, the Washington Commanders released their starting center, Tyler Biadasz, for reasons that they don’t want to pay the final year of the three-year contract he signed in 2024.

Biadasz (6’-3”, 316 pounds) came to Washington from the Dallas Cowboys and was in the first free agent class for new GM Adam Peters. He was signed for $20.7 million on a three-year deal. With the Commanders ditching Biadasz, the team will now save $2.89 million in salary cap space. Biadasz was going to count $10.98 million against the cap.

Biadasz is a talented center. He has six years of experience and played in 92 NFL games, starting 84. He has missed very few games due to injury; however, in the Week 17 game against the Cowboys, Biadasz suffered a significant knee and ankle injury, and he missed the final game of the season. The rehab process is expected to be concluded in time for training camp.

He started 31 games in two seasons for Washington and is just 28-years old. In 2022, Biadasz had a high ankle sprain while with Dallas, but other than these two injuries, he has been durable. He missed only three games from 2024-25. From 2021 to 2025, he played in 92% of all offensive snaps or greater.

The release should generate immediate interest as a street free agent because he can sign anywhere immediately. This comes one day after the Tennessee Titans released their starting center Lloyd Cushenberry.

Biadasz had a Pro Football Focus grade of 70.7 for 2025. His run-blocking skills are his best traits. He had three penalties and allowed just three sacks and 21 pressures. Obviously, the medical team would have to evaluate whether he is on an acceptable timeline to resume playing.

His career accolades include: Third Team All-Big 10 (2017), two-time First Team All-Big 10 (2018, 2019), Unanimous All-American (2019), Rimington Trophy winner (2019), and one Pro Bowl (2022).
