Barcelona Captain De Jong Out One Month With Hamstring Injury

Barcelona captain Frenkie de Jong is set for an extended spell on the sidelines with a hamstring injury, ruling him out for at least one month.

The Netherlands international could miss up to seven matches across all competitions, including the Copa del Rey semi-final second leg against Atletico Madrid and the Champions League Round of 16 tie. He will also sit out several La Liga fixtures and the upcoming international break with the Netherlands.

The injury comes at a particularly frustrating moment for Hansi Flick and Barcelona, who had just about a fully fit squad available. With Pedri having recently returned from injury, De Jong's absence leaves a significant gap in midfield, forcing Flick to rely on players like Marc Bernal, Marc Casado, or Eric García to partner Pedri.
