Filipe Luis Sacked After Flamengo's 8-0 Win

Despite leading Flamengo to seven titles in 100 matches since joining in September 2024, Luis was dismissed at 00:59 local time. The club confirmed his exit alongside assistant coach Ivan Palanco and physical trainer Diogo Linhares in a brief statement.

The 40-year-old, who won the Premier League with Chelsea in 2015, guided Flamengo to Copa Libertadores glory in 2025 and reached the last 16 of the FIFA Club World Cup. Flamengo will face Fluminense in Sunday's Carioca final but currently sits 11th in the league table with just four points from their first three matches.
