Capitals Hold Off Knights' Late Comeback

Pierre-Luc Dubois scored twice and assisted on another goal to lead the Washington Capitals to a 3-2 victory over the Vegas Golden Knights on Friday night.

All three Capitals goals came in the second period, with Jakob Chychrun adding his 22nd of the season. Vegas mounted a late comeback with Braeden Bowman and Tomas Hertl scoring in the third period, cutting the deficit to 3-2 with 10:45 remaining.

However, Washington held on for the win, improving to 2-0 since the Olympic break and 6-1 in their last seven games. The victory moves the Capitals within two points of the New York Islanders for third place in the Metropolitan Division and within two of Boston for the Eastern Conference's second wild card.
